Plans
Wikarekare was set up as a non-profit Trust to provide Internet access as a service to the Karekare community. The Trust's policy is to recover the running and maintenance costs of the service from subscribers. We charge a low monthly fee, and charge heavier user excess data charges
The current rates, payable monthly through an automatic payment, and the excess on invoice, due by the 7th of the following month, are as follows:
There is a low Monthly fee: $30 for 60GiB
($50/month for the first year to go towards our connection costs)
Excess rate: 50c/GiB for over 60GiB
Low data usage has little impact on the network, so the first 1Mib/s is recorded, but not charged. This can account for quite a large free traffic component each month.
Rate limiting may be applied to protect the network. The network is a shared resource, and excessive use can impact the service of all users.
The Wikarekare Trust is not GST registered.
Nb. Wikarekare measures traffic in GiB (1073741824 Bytes),
where most ISP's measure in GB (1000,000,000 Bytes), which results in bills 7% higher.
These charges may be altered by the Trustees, to ensure the Trusts running costs are fully recovered.
