Acceptable Use Policy

The Subscriber agrees to the following acceptable use Policy.

 

System abuse is strictly prohibited. WiKarekare may terminate or modify service immediately and may bill for any resulting support charges if the client engages in system abuse. Following is a list of actions, which are defined to be system abuse. This list is non-exclusive; any action about which there is any doubt should be referred to WiKarekare for evaluation.

 

Actions, which constitute system abuse, include, but are not limited to:

 

a.   Attempting to circumvent user authentication or security of any host, network, or account on WiKarekare systems or the Internet at large ("hacking");

 

b.   Attempting, in any way, to interfere with or deny service to any user or any host on the Internet. This includes, but is not limited to: the spawning of an excessive number of processes, Consuming excessive amounts of memory, central processor time, hard disk storage space, and abusing any general system resources;

 

c.   Port scanning or investigating network configuration without the permission of the individual or company involved;

 

d.   Engaging in harassment, whether through language, frequency, or size of messages;

 

e.   Users are not permitted to send multiple unsolicited email (Spam) to single or multiple users including, but not limited to, advertising email;

 

f.    Forwarding or posting "chain letters" (multiple forwarding) of any type.

 

g.   Adding or attempting to add addresses to any mailing list without explicit positive consent of the addressee. (This also violates the Privacy act);

 

h.   Using a WiKarekare account or network connection to collect replies to messages sent from another provider, which violate these rules or those of that provider;

 

i.    Forging email or USENET posting header information;

 

j.    Posting inappropriate messages to USENET newsgroups e.g., posting large numbers of unsolicited posts indiscriminately ("spamming"), or posting encoded binary files to USENET newsgroups not specifically named for that purpose;

 

k.   Attempting to cancel, supersede, or otherwise interfere with email or USENET posts other than one's own;

 

l.   Using an account at another provider to promote another providers Web site in an abusive manner;

 

m.   Reselling WiKarekare services to third parties that do not abide by these guidelines and all rules and conditions in the connection agreement or alterations to it, as posted on the WiKarekare web site.

 

If WiKarekare feels that you have been abusing any system or service, WiKarekare will not hesitate to disconnect your service indefinitely. In some cases, WiKarekare may also add an additional charge and possibly prosecute and/or WiKarekare may be legally required to report the activity to law enforcement authorities.

 

Any failure to obey these rules will result in a warning. If WiKarekare considers the breach to be sufficiently serious (at WiKarekare's discretion), you agree that WiKarekare may disconnect your services without liability to you.

 

WiKarekare really want everyone to enjoy their experiences with the internet so this has made these basic rules necessary, but the overall theme is don't let your actions impact on other peoples ability to enjoy themselves.
